How it works
One agent, from checkout to claim.
Insurrl follows every order through seven steps and acts where your policy or carrier terms say it matters.
Order placed
The agent reads every new order the moment it lands: items, value, destination, shipping method, and customer history.
- Reads line items and SKUs
- Maps each product to how your policy treats it
- Notes the delivery promise you made at checkout
Risk check
Each order is scored against your own history and the rules in your policy and carrier terms.
- High-value, high-theft, or excluded items
- Destinations with porch-theft or loss history
- Patterns that look like “item not received” fraud
Tag it
Risky orders get the action your policy needs before a label is printed. You choose whether the agent suggests or acts.
- Require direct or adult signature
- Hold for review
- Add packing notes, such as no branded packaging
Shipped
When the label is bought, the agent decides whether this parcel needs insurance at all, counting the carrier’s built-in liability first.
- Skips parcels the carrier already covers
- Flags parcels your policy won’t cover
- Checks per-parcel caps
Insure
If cover is needed, the agent picks between the insurers you’ve connected, based on what each policy actually pays for this product and lane, and buys it through their API.
- Compares connected policies for this parcel
- Buys cover through the insurer’s API
- Keeps the certificate with the order
Late delivery
If the carrier misses its delivery promise, the agent flags the parcel for a refund claim, and knows when a guarantee has been suspended.
- Tracks every parcel against its promise
- Flags refund-eligible late deliveries
- Watches for suspended guarantees
Claim
When a shopper reports a problem, the agent files on time with the right evidence, and checks the order isn’t also being refunded through a card chargeback.
- Tracks carrier-first and insurer deadlines
- Collects signature, scan, and photo evidence
- Matches chargebacks to claims on the same order
What step three looks like.
Shopify 10:42 AM
New order #1042: diamond stud earrings, $1,240, ships UPS Ground.
Insurrl AGENT 10:42 AM
Checked #1042 against your ShipStation (ParcelGuard) terms:
| Check | Result | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Jewelry over $500 | Signature required | Tagged adult signature |
| Packaging | Must not reveal contents | Added packing note |
| Insurance | Worth insuring | Above carrier's $100 |
“Jewelry … with a value of $500.00 or more must be sent with the direct or adult Signature Confirmation Service provided by the carrier” ParcelGuard terms · Signature Confirmation Service
Without the signature, a lost-parcel claim on this order would pay nothing.
Running in the background, every day.
Policy and carrier changes
The agent re-reads policy and carrier terms daily and alerts you when a change affects what you sell.
Suggest or act
Start with suggestions in Slack or email. Let the agent act on its own once you trust it.
Every decision explained
Each action links to the clause it relied on, so you can check it yourself.
