Quick answer

U-PIC's US coverage rules insure a parcel against loss or damage from an external cause while a carrier has it, paying invoice value (or actual cash value if there is no invoice). Cover sits on top of carrier liability and other insurance. Jewelry, laptops, cellphones, fine art, perishables and several other items are excluded unless endorsed in writing, and loss after delivery is not covered under the standard rules.

How and when claims pay

“THE UNDERWRITERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE for any loss or damage to property covered by other valid and collectible Insurance nor for carrier's liability. Coverage shall be for EXCESS of aforementioned.”

What we couldn't confirm

  • Policy 665428091, its declarations (limit, deductible, rate) and endorsements are not public.
  • Direct and integrated partners receive separate coverage rules on sign-up; those are not held except the public TikTok, Amazon/Veeqo, DHL and consumer-checkout pages.
  • The live page shows no revision or effective date.
  • These rules apply only to US-origin parcels insured through U-PIC's Buy Now or Multi Buy website options. Direct and integrated partners get separate rules, and U-PIC says those terms may differ.
  • The live US page labels U-PIC Insurance Services (an agency) as "Insurer" while naming Continental Casualty Company as underwriter. Earlier editions (2021-2024) named both The Continental Insurance Company and Continental Casualty Company with two policy numbers.
  • The schedule limit, deductible and rate for policy 665428091 are not public, so the maximum per parcel is unknown.
  • The insuring clause frames cover as carrier custody within the US and Canada, but the same page sets international waiting periods. Our review flags this as unresolved.
  • TikTok Shop: the page footer names policy 665428091, but its laptop and non-refrigerated perishable endorsements (effective 2024-01-01) say: "This endorsement attaches to and forms a part of policy OC 250148/18807.". Whether they apply is unresolved. The claim portal says: "U-PIC only insures packages with labels generated through the TikTok Shop Seller Center.".
  • Amazon/Veeqo: the partner page footer names "The Continental Insurance Company", while U-PIC's region page says the US underwriter is Continental Casualty Company. Which entity bears the risk is unresolved. The live Amazon excluded list does not name jewelry.
  • DHL: the partner page names "Continental Casualty Company Policy Number 665428091", says "DHL does not have any commodity endorsements in place.", and sets a 14-day domestic wait for DHL Expedited Max.
  • Consumer checkout: U-PIC's consumer page says "This coverage is not an insurance policy issued to you" and "You are not insured under the Merchant's policy, do not file insurance claims, and do not receive insurance payments." The merchant decides any refund, replacement, reshipment or store credit.
  • No signature requirement appears in the US Buy Now rules. Our review found no published per-$100 rate; the FAQ's $0.45-per-DVU figure is only a worked example.

Frequently asked questions

Does U-PIC shipping insurance cover porch theft?

Not under the standard rules. U-PIC's FAQ says that once a package is delivered, any later loss or damage is not covered. It also says direct-policy clients can buy a porch-piracy endorsement.

Does U-PIC cover jewelry, laptops or cellphones?

Not unless endorsed in writing. The US coverage rules list jewelry, laptop computers, cellphones, loose stones, fine art and TVs as excluded. Coin and jewelry shipments to or from ZIP codes 10017, 10036, 94102 and 94108 are not insured.

How long do I have to file a U-PIC claim?

File notice with U-PIC within 90 days of the ship date. Non-delivery claims are held 21 days (domestic), 45 days (international) or 60 days (Italy) before they are decided. Requested documents are due within one year of shipment.

Do I have to file with the carrier first?

Only if your policy has a deductible. Then you must notify the carrier within 30 days and send the claim to U-PIC within 60 days of the carrier's check. For full-value, no-deductible parcels, notifying the carrier is not needed.

What does U-PIC pay on a claim?

Invoice value, or actual cash value if there is no invoice. Shipping cost is paid only if it was part of the declared value, and handling and insurance fees are not covered.

Is insurance bought through TikTok Shop, Amazon/Veeqo or DHL the same as U-PIC Buy Now?

No. Each partner has its own coverage page. The named insurer and covered items differ, and some points, such as the TikTok endorsements and the Amazon insurer, are unresolved.
